Interest in Kazakhstan Will Grow as Retailers Seek Warehouses — Expert Opinion

15 March 2023

The development of new logistics chains and the rise of parallel imports are compelling Russian retailers to seek warehouse spaces abroad. Vitaly Potapov, General Director of LLC "LOGOPER," shared this insight with IA REGNUM while commenting on reports of heightened interest from Russian carriers in warehouse facilities across Turkestan countries.

The expert emphasized that "undoubtedly, amid the expansion of parallel import supply schemes, interest in warehouses in the near abroad has surged."

"In today's retail landscape, success goes to those with goods on shelves—and ideally, a solid assortment too. To secure sales in Russia, certain global suppliers (brands) demand not only a trading intermediary but actual goods receipt at warehouses outside Russia. This is driving demand for warehouse rentals, such as in Kazakhstan," — the interviewee explained. Potapov noted that gauging the "extent of warehouse space shortages is challenging." "On one side, warehouses are increasingly used for cross-docking; on the other, the CIS warehouse market likely had no surplus capacity, so rising demand from Russian clients is genuinely affecting availability," he added.
